For the complete beginner, this is an introduction to basic massage techniques and contraindications. The weekend covers an easy to learn technique for the back, neck and shoulders, head and face and an introduction to using and choosing essential oils and is often a very good way to find out if massage is really for you before enrolling onto a full study programme.
If after attending this weekend you wish to complete the Beginners course you will need to enrol on the Follow Up Weekends.

Once you have completed the Introductory weekend and have decided you would like to complete the Beginners course, this is the next stage. These two weekends include more sequences for different body areas working towards being able to give a full body massage. On the final day there is an informal assessment where the student gives and receives a full body massage.
Successful completion and feedback from the tutor will enable the student to determine whether to proceed to Diploma level.
A Beginners Certificate is issued on submission of 20 completed homework sheets, which are a record of your home massage practice sessions.

This is a 12 week course, one evening a week and is available for those that prefer a more gradual learning process. This course takes you step by step through a full body massage routine, contraindications and also an introduction to using and choosing aromatherapy oils. On the final day there is an informal assessment where the student gives and receives a full body massage.
You do not have to complete an Introductory weekend before enrolling on this course.

This 8 week module covers the study of the body, particularly the Skeletal and Muscular Systems.

This 8 week module covers the systems of the body and how they function, for example the Cardiovascular, Degestive and Endocrine Systems.

For the qualified practitioner wishing to extend their knowledge of the effects of stress, injury and overuse on the musculoskeletal system. This course has been developed to enhance theoretical knowledge and apply new practical massage techniques in methods of soft tissue manipulation to alleviate musculoskeletal disorders.
There will be a theoretical investigation of the skeleton and muscles looking at such areas as posture, pain and stress. Some of this will be review but most of it will demand a deeper, more comprehensive study of anatomy and physiology in relation to pathology and massage. Practical work will include palpation, planning treatment sessions and advanced techniques.
Tuition will take place over four weekends with a written exam and practical assessment. It is a certificated course of the London College of Massage.

A holistic therapy, originating in the sub-continent where its practice is an integral part of family life. Working on the back, shoulders, neck, scalp, face and higher energy centres (chakras), this type of massage is renowned for relieving symptoms of stress, anxiety and mental tension, improving blood circulation to the areas, which in turn promotes hair growth and relief of eye strain, headaches, sinusitis, congestion and insomnia. The course includes some theory, followed by hands on practical work, culminating in a full routine to add to your massage knowledge.

This is a one day workshop developed by Isabelle Hughes to look at the special circumstances involved in Massage and Pregnancy. The day is spent discussing contra-indications, positions for labour, the use of massage during labour and other relevant topics. It is largely aimed at practitioners but can be of interest to anyone who would like to know more about the massage in pregnancy.
